Wasted Light & Climate Change
A lot of light goes straight up into space and does not provide any actual benefit for us, therefore being considered "wasted" light. Wasted light is wasted energy, which contributes directly to climate change.

What Can You Do?
According to Alyn Wallace, following these steps will help save money and use less energy:
-
Only use light when necessary
-
Use amber colored lights
-
Reduce lamp power
-
Plant trees to shield lights
-
Restrict upward light with shields
